Abstract

Background. The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the need to implement a policy of substitution in the Russian Federation, since dependence on imported products threatens to reduce competitiveness, economic security and curb the country's economic growth. The purpose of the work is to analyze the results of the implementation of the import substitution policy in the most promising area - agriculture to determine the directions, conditions and prospects for import substitution in Russia.
Materials and methods. The goal of the study was achieved through a comparative analysis of the volume of imports and exports of agricultural products in Russia, the volume of subsidies for agricultural production, and changes in the index of agricultural production for the period of activization of import substitution policies in Russia since 2014. Methodological research potential includes comparative, statistical, system analysis.
Results. The place of the agricultural industry in the policy of import substitution of the Russian Federation; The assessment of the implementation of the program on food import substitution is given, intermediate results of the implementation of this policy and prospects for its implementation are shown.
Conclusions. The study reveals the policy of import substitution as a comprehensive program with a way to improve the competitiveness of the country's economy, strengthen economic security, and implement structural adjustment. Based on the structural imbalance of the Russian economy, the goals of the revival of nonprimary production in Russia are formulated as a factor in increasing economic growth rates.
